POLIS-ALICE Webinar: E-commerce - Sustainable deliveries and consumer engagement
19 November 2024 - 10:30-12:00 (CET)
As online shopping continues to expand, cities are facing increased pressure from higher volumes of deliveries, leading to congestion, pollution, and inefficiencies. The rapid growth of e-commerce has revolutionized how people shop, but it also raises critical questions about its environmental and social impact, especially in dense urban areas.
Sustainability in e-commerce delivery is a necessity. To meet both consumer demands and environmental goals, businesses, policymakers, and city planners must raise awareness, and provide information to engage consumers for more sustainable choices in home delivery.
This webinar will invite business practitioners to present their strategies and current practices for enabling sustainable delivery of e-commerce purchases. In 2024, two research and innovation projects have been launched to address this topic and this webinar will also invite representatives of the two projects to present their work, and seek cooperation opportunities with businesses, cities and other stakeholders.
