Just Transition x Active Travel & Health Webinar: Designing for real choice—Infrastructure as enabler
17 September 2025 - 10:00-11:30 - Online
This webinar is organised by the Active Travel & Health Working Group with the support of the Just Transition Taskforce.
How can better walking, wheeling, and cycling infrastructure help tackle transport poverty and make our cities more inclusive?
Safe, accessible, and inclusive street design can empower individuals by improving access to public transport and supporting multimodal journeys. From first- and last-mile connections to low-cost traffic calming measures, we will look at how reclaiming space from cars can deliver high-impact improvements in everyday mobility, especially for those most affected by social and transport inequities.
Moreover, the webinar will be a fantastic way to celebrate EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK (16–22 September 2025), the European Commission’s flagship campaign to raise awareness about sustainable urban mobility: this year’s EMW theme, Mobility for Everyone, highlights the importance of inclusive, accessible transport.

About the Just Transition webinar series
This webinar is part of POLIS’ Just Transition webinar series dedicated to transport poverty. The series examines how cities and regions can address mobility injustice through targeted, inclusive local action.
The series offers a timely platform to explore how local authorities and other urban mobility stakeholders can support fair and sustainable mobility. Building on POLIS’ recent policy paper on the SCF, each session tackles a key theme at the intersection of climate, equity, and mobility, showcasing strategies that drive structural change on the ground.
