SMAPE WEBINAR: It takes three to tango: Dancing Together Towards Shared Mobility Governance
23 February 2024 - 11:00-12:00
Local authorities are increasingly recognized as key players in driving forward innovative strategies to improve urban mobility, directly impacting the well-being and quality of life of their residents. Mitigating private car dependency within cities and changing people travel’s behaviour represent pivotal steps towards advancing zero-carbon urban mobility. Numerous cities and regions have begun to actively respond to this challenge, introducing targeted policies that emphasize the promotion and facilitation of shared mobility. These initiatives not only support pilot programs but also aim at the widespread adoption of shared mobility services. Such measures are gaining attention due to their significant benefits, including reduced traffic congestion, lower emissions, and the creation of more livable urban spaces.
The upcoming webinar on the Shared Mobility Action Programmes Exchange (SMAPE) focuses primarily on exploring the role of policy-making in enhancing shared mobility across Europe. This event aims to provide a clear understanding of how national, regional, and local policies can both contribute to and benefit from the implementation of shared mobility initiatives.
Our objective is to offer insights into effective policy-making strategies that can support the growth and integration of shared mobility. By examining successful models and approaches, we hope to encourage a unified and practical perspective on shared mobility across different administrative tiers.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the impact of shared mobility policies, understand the challenges and opportunities at each governmental level, and explore how these can be aligned for maximum benefit. The webinar is designed to be both informative and practical, ensuring that SMAPE partners and external attendees can apply these insights to their own contexts, whether they are policy makers, urban planners, or professionals in the transport sector.
