We are standing before a unique opportunity to make our urban mobility systems more sustainable and safe. But for change to happen, we have to overcome existing practices and prejudice, and an inertia that keeps pulling us back to “business as usual”. What can we do to come out of this crisis stronger, and reinvent our cities? How can innovation and cooperation between the public and private sectors make us stronger, and faster? What can be the future of urban mobility in Europe, and how can the European Commission support a green recovery at the local and regional levels? How can we make sure the active travel boom is here to stay – and why is it that going halfway doesn’t get us anywhere?
Speakers:
Maria Tsavachidis, CEO, EIT Urban Mobility
Matthew Baldwin, European Coordinator for Road Safety and Sustainable Mobility, Deputy Director-General, DG MOVE
Mario Alves, Secretary General, International Federation of Pedestrians
